SWIFTRef API

Version 4.0 Dev

The SWIFTRef APIs offer financial institutions, corporates and third party service providers an automated data look-up service for real-time identification and validation of critical payments reference data within the SWIFTRef utility.

Our SWIFTRef APIs ease the integration of data into your back office applications and interfaces, reducing the risks linked to integration with other systems. Users can access tailor-made queries and responses that can be used by your software applications to validate codes and associated data, such as:

  • Name and address of a bank

  • Payment-related information about a financial institution, such as how to reach a BIC for Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) payments

  • Standing Settlement Instructions (SSI) for a given BIC and currency (SSIs provide information about how to settle a payment, for a given currency, with a given bank or financial institution)

Opting for real-time queries directly with the SWIFTRef platform will therefore help you achieve a greater rate of payments straight-through processing, minimise your reputational risk and yield significant cost savings.

What benefits can you gain with SWIFTRef APIs?

  • Access to accurate and up-to-date reference data allowing you to reduce payment error costs, increase payments STP, and enhance your customer service

  • Updated reference data across your back office applications and organization

  • Flexibility to access the same reference data any time and from anywhere with an API call
